A major container terminal experienced persistent tracking problems on one of its Liebherr Ship-to-Shore cranes. The trolley repeatedly failed to follow the rail correctly, resulting in increased wheel flange wear, higher stresses on the trolley structure, and reduced operational performance.
STARKON was contracted to investigate the root cause and restore the trolley geometry. Using our specialized alignment methodology, developed specifically for Liebherr trolley systems, we performed a complete inspection of the trolley wheel positions, wheel geometry, rail conditions, and structural alignment. Based on the collected measurement data, our engineers executed a precision wheel alignment procedure, restoring the trolley to its original tracking performance.
The project demonstrated that accurate wheel alignment is essential for maintaining the reliability and service life of Liebherr crane systems. Following completion of the work, the trolley once again travelled smoothly across the complete rail system, significantly reducing unnecessary wheel and rail wear.

The final result was a correctly tracking trolley with improved stability, reduced structural loading, lower maintenance requirements, and extended service life of both the trolley wheels and rail system.
